Hot Page has a brand new editor! With this release we are finally living up to our ambition: a graphical web page builder with the best developer experience imaginable. This is true if you’re a total newb writing CSS for the first time or you’ve already published thousands of pages.
Our new editor not only has a slick interface but powerful new features that are already changing the way we write HTML.
Yes, really! Of course we’ve heard the line about separation of design and content, but let’s face it, sometimes design and content are one and the same and just accepting that can make things wayyyy easier. If you could write half your CSS without worrying about selectors would that be so bad?
Speaking of styles, we’ve also made mayor improvements to our CSS editor, affectionately call Hot Sheet. It now has nesting, color pickers and other visual widgets to help explain and write CSS. This is the solid foundation for our ultimate goal: a Photoshop-like experience for editing CSS with no abstractions. We want an editor where you don’t have to google “CSS gradient generator” because there’s one built-in. And if you can already pop them out by just tickling the keyboard, more power to you.
We’ve also added a code library for reusable components that you can drop into pages. We have components for carousels, containers, pull quotes, asides, grids, photo captions, cards, accordions. We’re just getting started filling this out with top-shelf, reusable code snippets—that you can of course completely customize and modify yourself.
We just released many more major improvements to the editing experience, including an element inspector, background saves, and a page preview in other windows with real-time updates. It’s everything we always wanted in a page builder and we think you’ll feel the difference right away.
If you’re like me, you will just want to try this out for yourself. We don’t handicap the free version of our editor at all and you can even use it without creating an account. Make as many free sites as you want, even hook them up your own domain names. So well have at it.
Editor Test Drive!Well even more than hard, it’s just horribly slow. We are just two people building Hot Page and we’re doing this because we love web tech and we want to make an exceptional product without the need to compromise— or take advantage of our customers with a predatory pricing model.
Thanks to all our users for the great feedback and encouragement. We’re building this for you, so please let us know how we’re doing. You can reach me by just replying to this email. Hope you are having a great day,
Tim
